Annual General Meeting Season 2022/2023

Minutes of the Meeting Held on 14/08/2022 at 15:30 in the Rhoderick Dhu

Prior to the start of the meeting James proposed a change to the agenda and making point 8, Bank Account/Treasurers Update now item 2. There were no objections. 

  1. Welcome from the Chairman

James spoke of the successes of the 2021/2022 season: 

  • building on relationship with THFC and the Supporters Liason team, 

  • the 10 year anniversary of the supporters club and the successful celebrations which were marked with an evening at Citation with guests Jermain Defoe, Paul Coyte and James Black. The night also raised funds for Homeless Project Scoland. 

  • Increase in membership numbers which now stands at over 150 for 2022/2023. 

  • Increased exposure of the supporters club through social media channels, TV and radio mentions.

  • Improvements to the website which now serves as a single platform to manage membership sales, ticket application and merchandise management.

James also spoke of incidents which have recognised the importance of appointing an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer so that all members of Glasgow Spurs feel welcome when supporting the club. 

Questions to the chairman were around memberships and whether the 2022/23 applications were open. It was confirmed membership application is open for the current season and all applications are now made online. 

Sean wanted to state on records his thanks to James for all his efforts over the past year to move supporters club forward, 10th anniversary celebrations and securing an allocation of tickets for the Rangers game.


2. Bank Account/Treasurers Update

Neil spoke about the challenges with the previous bank account and switching over the signatories. It was confirmed a new account has been opened with Virgin Money with James and Neil as signatories with joint authority. 

The previous bank account is still to be closed and a small balance remains.

The new bank account current balance stands at £2257.81

Neil also acknowledged and thanked the chairman for the past year. 


Questions from members asked about liabilities. It was confirmed GS have no liabilities. All merchandise (T-shirts, Mugs, Hoodies etc) stock is print on demand and removes any internal administration/postage processes. 


3. (Re)Election of Committee members

Chairperson - is currently James Robertson who is happy to stand in this role again. There were no others who stood forward. There were no objections in James remaining as chairperson. It was motioned that James remain as chairman which was seconded by members. 

Treasurer - is currently Neil Galbally who is happy to stand in this role again. There were no others who stood forward. There were no objections in Neil remaining as treasurer. It was motioned that Neil remain as treasurer which was seconded by members. 

Club Secretary - is currently Rory Jenner who is happy to stand in this role again. There were no others who stood forward. There were no objections in Rory remaining as secretary. It was motioned that Rory remain as secretary which was seconded by members.

Committee Member 1 – Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer – not currently filled 

Committee Member 2 – Memberships, Ticket Applications and Merchandise Officer – not currently filled. 

No members stood forward to fill the roles of committee member 1 and 2. These positions will be reviewed later in the year. 


4. Membership Rules and Fees

No proposed changes to the rules right now but will need to be updated for the next AGM.

Membership fees have remained at £10 adult, £20 family and £5 junior.  

A £5 senior membership option has been introduced for the 2022/23 season. 

All membership renewals have been moved to the online process which makes the receipt of payments easier to track.


5. Ticket Application Process

James spoke about the improvement to the ticket application process by moving this to the website.

All ticket application windows and deadlines will be communicated by email. 


6.Pub

The Rhoderick Dhu have confirmed there will be upgrades to the TVs within the pub. 

Enquiries are to be made if children are allowed to be in the Rhoderick Dhu for matchday meet ups.

Enquiries will be made as to whether the pub is able to supply half time pies again. 


7. Merchandise Updates

  • Working with Print of Demand service (Printful.com)

  • Stickers and fridge magnets are a great success

  • Sold out of scarves

  • GS make a small margin on all products from 50p to £2.00

  • Worked with Digital Spurs for new 10-year t-shirt designs

  • New merchandise coming soon

  • Our stock of Glasgow Spurs Scarves has almost sold out and a new order will need to be places with the supplier (Global Scarves) for 100 units at a cost of appx £820


8. An Evening with Glasgow Spurs Report

Funds were raised on the evening for Homeless Project Scotland. Collections buckets were also at the Rangers Games. The charity is still to confirm the total of funds raised. 

After the success of 10 year anniversary night the club are keen to support GS with hosting another event. 


9. Any other Business 

Members asked about us adopting Whatsapp for future GS communication. 

It was confirmed that there is a Whatsapp group for stadium meetups and a possibly setting up a group for matchday meetups at the pub.
